Mussel Rock Park in Daly City contains a roughly 2-mile trail loop that takes roughly 50 minutes to complete a hike. At some points the gravel trail would have an incline making it a challenge for runners. Mussel Rock Park is a coastal park that overlooks the Pacific Ocean to the west and a towering cliffside to the east. The park is named after the rock formation of the same name right off the shore at the park where the San Andreas Fault Line enters the Pacific Ocean. Mussel Rock Park is a special place where the ocean and land ecosystem collide to form a unique habitat filled with flora and fauna. Although this is a beautiful park, it is still sensitive to disasters. Landslides from the cliffs on the eastern side caused by heavy rain or earthquakes could bring in debris and sediment and decimate the park's ecosystem. When hiking here, take precautions and be ready at any moment.
